We're delighted to have the wonderfully talented Jill Ballard from Absolutely Potty join us to run some fabulous Christmas pottery workshops!
Not only is she absolutely potty, but she's absolutely brilliant! ❤️
Jill is one of the best potters I know, and I've learnt so much from her over the years. She's an incredibly talented ceramic artist and a fantastic teacher who has a wonderful way of making everyone feel relaxed, confident and capable of creating something beautiful.
And this time, we're making something rather special!
A gorgeous handmade ceramic Christmas tree, covered in beautiful holly leaves and bright red berries! I do believe Jill will also talk you through the options for making your Christmas tree light up, adding an extra little touch of festive magic! ✨🎄
With its layers of textured leaves and clusters of festive berries, this lovely little tree will be something you'll treasure and bring out every Christmas for years to come.
Never worked with clay before? You're in exactly the right place!
This workshop is absolutely suitable for complete beginners. Jill will guide everyone through the making process, step by step, working at a comfortable pace so nobody feels rushed or left behind.
And I (Tracy, The Potty Hare) will be there too, helping everyone around the table, offering an extra pair of hands when needed and, of course, making sure the tea, coffee and biscuits keep coming!
We're all about enjoying the process, having fun, learning something new and going home knowing you've created something rather wonderful.
How the workshop works
Session 1 – Let's get making! (Approx. 2–3 hours)
You'll be guided through making your very own Christmas tree from clay, adding all those lovely little details that make each one unique.
Once you've finished, your creation will be left to dry thoroughly before going into the kiln for its first firing.
Session 2 – Time to add some colour! (Approx. 1–2 hours, around 2 weeks later)
You'll return to the studio to decorate and glaze your tree, bringing all those beautiful details to life.
Your finished piece will then go back into the kiln for its final firing, ready for you to collect once it's cooled.
